GAME: 8-Ball WHEN: Currently Tuesday nights (7:30pm start time) starting in September running approximately 24 weeks through March each year. (This may expand over the next year) WHERE: Any bar/lounge that has a standard bar box (primarily in Lorain County)...LCBCA does not require a vending company pool table in any location as we do not take quarters from the tables. COST TO SPONSOR: Bar Fee for sponsoring a team is currently $40 per team. The sponsorship fee is contributed to the league for the Vegas trip and the player's banquet, trophies, and plaques. In turn, we welcome the sponsoring bars to submit flyers for upcoming events to be posted on the website or distributed throughout the league. FORMAT: We currently run a 4x4 format which means that 4 players on the team are required to play each week. Each player will play each opponent once; hence the 4x4 format (16 games in all). Our 8-ball league is handicapped with a maximum of 4 balls per round in Division 1 and 5 balls per round in Division 2 allotted to the lower average team. Team average is calculated by adding the four players' averages together. For example: player 1 has an 8 average; player 2 has a 6 average; player 3 has a 7 average; and player 4 has a 7 average: the team average would be 28. The lowest player average allowed is a 6. The opposing team has an average of 24; thus, the opposing team would receive 4 points (ball count) per round or 16 additional points per match. Each team is allowed 7 players on their roster as voted by the league players. PRIZES: The LCBCA gives away an all expense paid trip to Las Vegas for the National 8-Ball tournament for the first place team. The trip includes 3 rooms, airfare for six players, and entry into the National 8-Ball tournament team event. The second & third place teams currently get prize money plus an entry to the Ohio State BCA 8-Ball Tournament in Columbus, OH. The remainder of the teams are paid prize money. All monies collected are dispersed back into the LCBCA league to the players in prize money and an awards banquet. The only monies withheld are for minimal expenses such as mileage and paperwork as voted on by the players. LEAGUE MEMBERS: The LCBCA prides itself in representing the pool player, not a company. The pool players in our league have a say/vote on things that happen within the league. For example, the players regulate the cost of the price of play each week. They also vote on the handicap limits; expense to be paid; tournament locations; etc. We have regular captain's meetings throughout the season to discuss all types of situations and/or events. Each League Member is required to pay a $15 sanction fee each year to play in the league. The sanction fee price is determined by the National BCA Organization. RULES: The LCBCA rules are governed by the World Standardized 8-Ball rules. CURRENT LOCATIONS IN THE LEAGUE: Train Station (Elyria), New Image (Elyria), Brew & Cue (Grafton), Black River Lanes (Elyria), Razzles (Olmsted Falls), Czech Point (Birmingham), Darmos (Lorain), Black River Billiards (Lorain), Gus Sheffield Inn (Sheffield), Rudy's (Vermilion), Stubby's (Elyria), Grown & Sexy (Lorain), Kennedy's Billiards (Lorain), Mulligan's (North Ridgeville), Deluxe Bar (Grafton), Rack N Roll (Elyria), Pearl Gate (Lorain), Margies (Lorain), and Toppers (Elyria). TOURNAMENTS: The LCBCA has fundraising tournaments about once a month throughout the season. The entry is $10 (unless otherwise indicated) with $2.00 of that going to the BCA to help pay for the the league banquet and expenses. The tournaments are scheduled at the beginning of the season and held at locations who sponsor teams within the league. You will find a listing of the tournaments on our "Tournaments" page. Occasionally, you may see other tournaments listed from the BCA to provide information to our players.
